Acute Megakaryoblastic Leukemia -A case report-

Abstract

|
|
Acute megakaryoblastic leukemia is a rare and rapidly fatal disease characterized by
proliferation of megakaryoblasts and atypical megakaryocytes in bone marrow and only
a few blasts in peripheral blood. A case of acute megakaryoblastic leukemia was studied
morphologically and electron microscopically. The blasts have rather clumped chromatic
pattern and numerous cytoplasmic projections. We demonstrated positive platelet
peroxidase reaction in leukemic blasts, confirming that the blasts were the
megakaryocytic origin. We report this case as the first case in Korean.
